We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with our puzzle community! After a year of rigorous testing—and thanks to countless requests from puzzlers like you—Boardwalk Puzzles has introduced a brand-new non-glare matte finish to our collection.

Why the Switch to Matte?

If you’ve ever had to tilt your puzzle or squint under bright lights to see where a piece belongs, you know how frustrating glare can be. Most puzzlers assemble their masterpieces under overhead lighting, which can create distracting reflections.

Our new matte finish is designed to solve that problem. By reducing glare, it provides a clearer, more comfortable puzzling experience. The finish extends across both the puzzle pieces and the included insert, giving every title a premium, consistent look and feel.

What’s Transitioning?

As of July 2025, all new traditional Boardwalk titles are being introduced with the matte finish. We’re also transitioning existing titles as we restock inventory, so more of your favorites will receive the upgrade over time.

Here’s where things stand today:

• Boardwalk at Costco – All puzzles created for Costco in 2025 will continue with our traditional high-gloss finish.
• Dowdle Puzzles – Will remain high-gloss as part of their distinctive style and heritage.
• Specialty Items – Advent calendars and wooden puzzles will also stay high-gloss for now.

This isn’t a one-and-done change. At Boardwalk, research and development never stop. We’re constantly testing new materials, finishes, packaging, and product innovations to make puzzling even more enjoyable. The matte transition is just one step in our ongoing journey.
