In 1840, newlyweds Hiram and Sarah Kimball moved into an already-existing frame home in Nauvoo, IL. Sarah was an affluent young woman who opened this beautiful home for social and religious gatherings. Two years after moving into her home, she organized a ladies society that became known as The Relief Society. Sarah was a strong-minded woman who believed in the worth and dignity of all women. She served as a ward Relief Society President in Salt Lake City for forty years, and was the first president of the Utah Suffrage Association.
