Lyon Drug served as a pharmacy and a variety store, providing residents of Nauvoo, IL with nearly everything they needed in a frontier community. The shelves held a treasure trove of medicines, textiles, hardware, and household items. Dry goods such as eyeglasses, porcelain china, firearms, and beehives were also sold. Many residents brought goods they produced to barter for things they needed.
