Fireworks burst in magnificent splendor over Philadelphia, the “Birthplace of Liberty.” Independence Hall and Philadelphia’s ornate city hall are dwarfed by the city’s modern skyline. The Moshulu, a historic sailing ship, is docked in the foreground at the Municipal Pier. Grateful Americans celebrate nearly 250 years as a free nation while long-time Philadelphia resident Benjamin Franklin takes in the spectacle from a camp chair.
