U.S. Capitol
by Andy C. Ellis
Perhaps you’ve followed Dan Brown’s Professor Langdon through hidden chambers deep under the capitol dome or seen the Capitol through Lincoln’s eyes in Steven Spielberg’s motion picture. The U.S. Capitol is regarded as the seat of democracy around the world. President George Washington himself selected the site of the capital and signed off on plans for its construction in 1793. Since then, it has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored. Did you know a crypt was constructed underneath the capitol dome for U.S. President’s? So far, no one has yet to be entombed there. This art is part of our Iconic Places Collection.
