Great Wall of China
by James Poai
The Great Wall is a celebrated part of China’s history. Most of the wall was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), however some parts are nearly 3,000 years old. It was constructed to protect Imperial China from northern invaders and to regulate trade along the Silk Road. Although the wall stretches nearly 13,000 miles… no, you can’t see it from space. More than 10 million people visit the Great Wall each year. This art is part of our Iconic Places Collection.
