This is a quintessential scene of Americana. Kids of all ages gather in a vacant lot with well-worn gloves, wooden bats, and scuffed baseballs to play their favorite game. Infielders taunt a young batter ready to give his all for his friends. Other players look on hoping the little slugger will at least get to first. The air is filled with excitement.
