On May 10, 1869 at 2:47 PM bells in the Capitol Building in Washington D.C., a large fire bell in Sacramento, CA, and a cannon near the Golden Gate all simultaneously sounded. The event that caused this was the driving of the Golden Spike by Leland Stanford to connect the east and west coast of the United States by rail. The telegraph was connected to his sledge-hammer and when he struck the spike the signal instantly went from coast to coast. The location was a high, dry landscape in Northern Utah that was called Promontory. This event changed the future of the country and manifest the industrial ingenuity and tenacity that exemplifies the U.S.A. This historic moment is captured by Eric Dowdle in his new painting, “Golden Spike.” Bringing his humor to widen the scene and reflect more of the area at the time, this piece is fun for its history and additional asides about this historic event in American History.

Golden spike

The puzzle was easy enough. The pieces weren’t of the same, sturdy quality and seemed to be warped. They were not tight and became separated easily. The history of the event was interesting to know. Thank you again for a pleasant way to spend time on a weekend.

I love the puzzles from this company

I love the puzzles from this company. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was cause the puzzle pieces fit in more than one spot and all his other puzzles came with a bag to put the puzzle pieces in when done and this one had none. I do like how strong the pieces was and no 2 was stuck together. I also liked how we got a poster to look at instead of the picture on the sleeve. I can usually get a 500 piece one done in a couple days but this one took me a little longer. that was nice.

I love doing Dowdle puzzles

I love doing Dowdle puzzles. Try to do only 1000 piece, but the ones I like are only available in smaller piece size. Also, wish there are more western scenes.

16x20 is the perfect size puzzle

The pieces were nice size, stay together well and make a nice puzzle.
